I've managed to replace my old 80's(!) 6.0 with a new 2004 Ezzy Infinity 6.8. I've had a 460 Z-Free Powerex mast (both from Excel) sitting around waiting since last year. I chose the sail because it looks as if the cam configuration should produce a very low centre of effort and I'm not very big. If you sail an Infinity I would appreciate any input as every bit of gear has it's own idiosyncracies; good and bad, that familiarity reveals. I've been doing first time rigging and tweaking in my spare time trying to have it ready for it's first session. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2004 8.5 Ezzy Infinity that I use with an Ezzy 490 cm skinny mast. It honestly feels like about a 6.5, but with power, easy to sail, not overpowering with the cams on. Awesome sail. If you have a regular diameter mast just follow the rigging instructions with the sail. If you have a skinny mast you have to "adjust" the cambers to fit the skinny, instructions are on the website under the Infinity section. I also have a simple Sailworks adjustable outhaul that I use with it (not the Formula outhaul).

Compared to that 1980's sail...you are going to be very very happy.

Hey Casey; Nice name thing - kc sevens. It took a while to notice. Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode when George thought the names Soda and Seven woud be cool names for a kid. Casey Sevens is a pretty cool sounding name.
I wonder if you use a different downhaul setting for light winds. I pulled mine as hard as I could with a bar (the usual for me) for max downhaul and was impressed at how well the shape travels up the sail as you loosen the downhaul. Seems as if there may be almost two inches of useable downhaul adjustment. I understand that when it's too loose (the downhaul) the leech is just too tight and the sail goes dead. At 130 lbs. this is my largest sail so I'm interested in getting all the grunt out of it I can when necessary. Of course, it hasen't been windy since I got the sail so I'm just wondering away.
Thanks for the input, it can really save wasting time on the beach.

I have a 6.9 Ezzy Special Edition too. Most times I sail the Ezzy's with the leech pretty loose, ie loose into the design marks on the top of sail (per the instructions). Even the Special Edition in the 6.9 has power for me (170 lbs). I have sailed that on a 99L board. I do adjust the outhaul a bit while sailing (1 inch or so) but the instructions with the sail are very good. You do not really need to play with the downhaul that much (unless way overpowered and you do not want to re-rig.
