Looked at local winds at 8am but wind-ow was short and I missed it. JW threw out the Parksville card and I picked it up. We decided to look at San Pareil first and didn't leave. Good swells to ride and the wind looked like a steady 20. In fact it was more and the 3.5 was a handful the entire session. We were visited by a couple big male orcas which warmed us up with adrenaline! Great session. Thx to JW for driving and pushing me to sail longer so I could see a whale!

A better day in the Caribbean today. I smartly got in earlier in the morning when the shorebreak was manageable for me. That worked well, but the smaller swell also meant smaller winds so it was a struggle to initially get on foil. The seas were rougher than I preferred so it was work just to stay on the board and ride the confused swells. Mach speed kiters also made the navigation occasionally dicey. Sea turtles were very cool and the water was bath water warm. Funner than yesterday!

Failed Willows dawn patrol. Just got back last night from 7 glorious days skiing in the interior with the family and was keen to get back onto the water. When I rigged at 745am it was 14-18. Within 20 minutes of launching it dropped to 6-8. Just a few foiling runs and then kaput. SAD.

Embarrassingly short session in the fishbowl.
When there are whitecaps on the inside, you know it's nautical:-(
Slowly coming to the realization, that when it's like that, i need to either get a 3 or 3.5, or stay on the couch.
With the 4m it was doable, just not that much fun compared to playing in the waves.

Good, BUT.
That time of the year when the bloody annoying sargassum comes out of hibernation just to f$%@k with me.
Started on the 5m, but quickly realized that was not the right tool for the job.
Got the 6m, and while then enough wind, that bloody weed would spoil the lift part of the equation.
Several curses were loudly exclaimed.

Arrived to 6-8kts. Looked like darker patches out farther so rigged up a fatty patty 6.0m Sailworks Flyer and my go-to foi, 1263cm2. Schlogged for a couple mins then found a gust and worked pretty hard for 40 mins staying on the foil then it lighted up and I was hoping it would come back so schlogged over to Jemmy but no joy and schlogged back and came in. Short light wind session! Arrived to just Bobson getting his foiling fix. Had a pre-sail chat with Tuna' dusted off the 5.0 and took over from Bobson. Slightly offshore and then onshore, and a small swell, after 45 mins started getting lighter so headed in, handed off to guidedbyvoices. Could be some dawn patrol tomorrow?!?

Chased the wind out to Sidney but was too holey and flukey. Saw Ogden was 15ish so headed into town. Arrived to RB and it was pretty light, maybe 8-10kts. Decided to wait, 5 mins later, a couple gusts came through and Windoc showed up and so did the wind and apparently some dog pee' Wind looked 10-12kts so decided to rig. Absolutely perfect conditions for an hour or so - steady 15kt SE, nice waves.
Just me and neighbor Mike the kiter out front.
Got light after an hour or so and even had to paddle in the last 100m.
Got the 6m and had another short session practicing turns before it dropped for good- kind of glad because I was cooked!

Arrived just as the wind died. Stopped to chat with another winger and the wind picked back up. Went out on the 909, haven't used this foil in a long timed forgot how fun it could be. Sailed far up wind and wind died. Probably an hour slog back, then the wind picked up and one reach and I was back at my van. Too cold to continue so I packed it in. Watched the wind crank later as I sulked at home.

Some texture on the bay, headed down hoping for yesterday's leftover wind. By the time we finished rigging it had dropped to a light breeze. Floated around awhile, hard work for short glides. FraserMc packed it in just as it picked up.

Boat Ramp launch of falling tide minimized walk to water. Nicely juiced from the get-go on the 10m, tho oddly wind would drop out by the last bank where the windswell was breaking. Best up around the Mile Marker for both wind and waves, so spent most of the time up there.

Another good Valley 2fer - a few runs at Washington, then a few runs at the spit.

Bonus local sessions in Mill Bay. Crosswind with soft swell. Shifty for the first session, adequately powered on the 5m. FraserMC timed it just right on the late shift in 4m winds and found good lines mid-inlet while I played small waves closer to shore over sandbar.

Paused for lunch and a warm shower. Then gathered the damp gear for another run at Clover pt. Wore the dry wetsuit inside the wet wetsuit. Very cosy. Hard to bend the limbs tho. Swell quality was high and fast! Super fun slide with bwd. Came in just as the post week crew arrived.

Dragged myself down to Clover and it was pumping (wind & swell). Great time on the 3M although, i need to get a smaller foil to keep up with that big steep swell. Fun trying to find comfort in the Chaos of near 40kts it seemed near the end. Impressed to see Finn out there doing well in the difficult conditions.

Just me and tweezer for the first half. A few lulls but lots of good inside waves. Tweez left, I guess he was tired after his morning session and from being in 10mm of rubber. Sailed solo for a bit, then a new crew arrived and it got windier. Fun day, hopefully not the last at clover.

Great after work session at the home spot, thanks Idefix for doing a second session and being my wingman. Went through most of the inventory today, 2x board, 2x wing and 2x foil. Started out on the big gear and after about 45 mins it built to a solid 25 so in for the 4m smaller board and foil. Best waves I have ever had in Mill Bay, had some great rides and a ton of fun with the new boom. Nice to have a bit of a mellow session close to home.

New North wings arrived this morning and by 4:30 the 3.5 had its first stab sized rip. Clover SE gales are perfect for breaking in new gear. Could have should have been on the 2.9 as it was nuking. Started on the Spitfire then downsized to Art Pro 1001. Need to get a smaller foil for these conditions. Big fast lumps out there. Fun ish. Cabrinah 3.5 and 5.0 for sale, $300 each.
