what is this thing about 'vistitors online ... unique visitors'?
visitors online is obvious, but what about 'unique'?

This is the number of actual people coming to the site each day. It is measured from the number of unique IP addresses or sessions served. This number is not the number of hits or page views. For example, if one person came to the site 10 times in one day it would only count as one visitor. So it shows that 100 people or so visit the site on a busy day. It is not 100% accurate since some people share the same IP address (Shaw sometimes has people under a proxy server) and dialup accounts will use different IP addresses for each visit. But it gives a good idea.
