IV weather station temperature should be fixed now. No excuses WS247..it's not 5.1 degrees anymore.bwd wrote:I also went to the IV weather station at the beach and took out the bad temperature sensor to get the part number. The new one is on the way and should be here in 2 weeks.

I cleaned the IV webcam and fixed the angle yesterday. I tried to fix the weather station too without any luck. I need to order some spare parts and that will take a few weeks. So it will be showing 0 knots for a while yet.
There is some more bad news. The property with the weather station has been sold. The house will be knocked down and a new one will be built eventually after major foundation work is done (the existing house is on wet sand). So we will lose the weather station in December or before
There isn't much in the way of alternatives down there for a weather station. Perhaps someone can take this project on and talk to the RV south of IV at the point. That should give a reasonable indication of winds, except for the big cliffs. Or maybe put it in the CRD campground and we could radio link the signal back to the hill where the webcam is? I don't think there are too many other options. If someone wants to take this on that would be great.
Thanks
Dave

Cool, thanks Sasha! Forgot to mention that we can pay about $40/month to go towards the internet costs if you talk to someone at the RV park. Hopefully they have internet access year round?
Also everything else is working on the IV weather station, even the wind direction. It's just the windspeed thats not working, figures.

If we can contact the new property owner we could find out if we can leave the weather station where it is (or even move it out of the way). I can get a solar powered long range antenna and send the data up the hill where the webcam is - so no power or internet would be needed at the beach. But we need to find out who the owner is and find out if the weather station can be left on the property. Time is running out for this I think...
Another alternative is the RV park (Beachcomber RV) to the south of IV.
