He could easily handle both tasks Tony. He is an Engineer for heaven's sake! "Beer-me" - I'm there ... but not this year. Just got back to work after a long hip surgery recovery. I don't think the optics would be good to take vacation after being on med leave for 2 months. I'm looking ahead to OR ...

hmmm ... In my case, I was recommended to go with the latest tech -- the dis-solvable plate n screws, so they melt away after a year or so. No need to remove. I heard they still had some old inventory up in Duncan, with the titanium stuff. Maybe you got that? :P but really ... looks like a wait and ...

"Gentlemen we can rebuild him .."
this doesn't rank against Joostio's femur break, but it's my first broken bone -- took 51yrs to get there ... some shots for the archives ... cycling crash about a week ago.

Smart Meter Energy Data --
a colleague at work just shared with me a way to listen to all the smart meter energy data in your neighbourhood .. .cost ==> 20 bucks . You just buy a USB dongle off ebay. It doesn't look like the BC hydro data is secure at all. You can tap into the energy data coming from dozens of meters. But ...

BWD ... you joke, but this extra cost needs careful scrutiny If you add up the cost of our gear (guessing $5,000 + at the LOW end for any kiter or pollskipper), AND, paying over $50 gas round-trip to the lake, AND maybe a flat repair ... Like, how on earth can any of us buck up an additional $10 for ...

that's it :D One thing I forgot to mention. The dates on the panels are grenwich(sp?) time, which is ahead of us by 7 or 8 hrs, depending on time of year. So, a panel marked with 12Z SAT (noon grenwich), would actually be 5am on the west coast (noon minus 7 hours). To my eye, it looks good from Sun ...

Looks like Nanmoo is onto something ... the 9-panel oracle is calling for Pistol wind every day starting as early as Sat. Unfortunately, I can't make it this year - teacher's strike forced my vacation hand, and hips likely too creaky anyhow. Thought I'd share how to interpret the oracle, in case you ...

support better cycling in Victoria
I just read that the City of Victoria is updating its master cycling plan. If you are a cyclist take a minute and let the city know your needs. For me, better cycling infrastructure would be a huge bonus -- In a typical year I cycle about 20x as much as I'm on the water. Here is a letter to the city ...

thinking about wireless internet connections at Clover. The ShawOpen Wifi signal is strong at Cook and Dallas, and I think Shaw has repeaters all along the Dallas waterfront, so maybe a decent signal at Clover? Good line of sight for sure. With a Shaw internet account you are allowed to connect 3 ...
