Many of our friends and wind community have been following what is happening in Port Alberni. Here's a recent episode of ShawTV's winddiva's "Alberni Thrive" on the future of the waterfront.

A few weeks after this episode was filmed, the abrupt announcement came that current city mayor and council have SOLD (the waterfront beside Canal Beach remainder of the former plywood mill site for $250,000.00 to Canadian Maritime Engineering.

very unfortunate and smelly.....just another backroom deal that BC is so famous for....there is no accountability or at least the cost of that is less expensive than the obvious gains for those involved

This stinks. Selling off the public future for $250,000. What is the upside ? Maybe a few short term jobs and tax revenue but now total loss of control of that Section of Alberni Waterfront. Bummer. Should have made it a park and campground.
