Laugh now... I think you are going to be seeing more of these. I know they have been trying and testing them in the gorge. Lots of respect there in my opinion. (Coming from a guy that hasn't even tried kite foiling...it can't be easy!) Just sayin'

They've been around for a long time for windsurfing. Rush Randle was sailing them 15 years ago or more I think. They do look a bit more refined now, but the kite versions look so much better/faster. Maybe as a novelty for windsurfing, but for high performance they are a ways off the pace of kiting applications. I'd love to try one just for a new sensation sailing.

Doesnt look like a sunday afternoon cruise.....mucho concentration needed.
Not a good sell when the foil gets passed by a conventional board near the end of the vid.
May be a dumb question but why wouldn't you have 2 hydrofoils on a board like a hydrofoil boat? Or the Hydroptere(sp) tha held the speed record for a while.
Interresting nonetheless.

Peter Lederer of LP foils in hood river rides the same foil in the windsurfer that kiters do. He is a very competent windsurfer and taught himself in a week. Told me after a month of practice he is almost making foiling gybes. I have an LP foil here for demo if anyone had an old board they want to mount it on. 4 Bolt 90mm X 165mm.

Much longer then 15 years, Miller Hydro foil from the early 90s, where you can trim a front set of foils with a system of pullies,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbPFHipr_rw . I'm sure this wasn't the first one either.
Hydro foils are nothing new or revolutionary, there's a little blip of a fad every X years.

That being said I'd be curious to try one for a day or two to see what the ride is like.
