Impact vest advice please, and Merry Christmas

New user here. Just getting some gear together. I'd like an impact vest that provides some flotation. I was told (not sure what model it was) the Dakine with a diagonal zipper aint too good. The zipper breaks often. Any other ideas? The O'Neil pull over style looks kinda thin, but I'm sure it works, and provides a bit of flotation. Seen some other models out there, I'll buy one tomorrow, but just need advice!
Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

Go to Trotac Marine and buy a Black Mustang life jacked. It is a coast guard approved PFD and it has more padding than most impact vests. We use them at Strong kiteboarding. Less than half the price of most impact vests.

Buy a yellow one so that your rescuers can see you.

Sherwood marine had lots of life jackets when I bought mine. They can be removed without assistance.

I made a mistake. I'm getting into kite surfing. I should've posted this under the kiting page. Good review, and link to other info on this topic. Thanks.
As far as life jackets go, I'd love the buoyancy of a pfd, but most have straps, or buckles that provide a point where a kite line could get caught, so I'm looking more for neoprene lo profile design with no catch points on it.

not a mistake at all, but some topics (impacts vests are a good example) can relate to both Windsurfers and Kiters, so you might find good info in the "Rigging area" vs other sections. Always best to first try a search and see what comes up.

Does the length of that mustang one get in the way of the harness MartyD?

No issues with length unless you wear your harness really high. Seat harness has plenty of clearance.
