I am new to windsurfing and just went to the shops to buy a new board. The shop sold me one, its called starboard start. Anyway, the length seems good as it fits on the roof of my car nicely. But it is too wide for me too lift up by myself. I measure it and its nearly 3 feet wide. I went to a local beach and saw some windsurfers doing jumps and stuff. I measured their boards and they are just over 1 and a half feet wide. So i decided it will be best to cut some of the board away at the side. Luckily i have jig saw so it was very easy to cut the same amount, about half a feet of the side of each board. But the problem is i noticed the board has foam i the middle and is not solid. i think it will just leak if i use it as it is. What is the best way to cover up the side. I have some duck tape i can use but i don't want to completly ruin my new board with the silver tape. what can i use. someone told me resin and glass. but i think the glass will just break if i put it on the side and i think it will be too sharp. What do you all use.

You can buy white electrical tape, that would cover the foam and keep the board looking really new. Save the cut off pieces for water skiing!!

Have your mate buy a longboard since these are already the proper narrow width. Then set up the jig saw to cut the longboard in half CROSSWAYS (NOT lengthwise). Be sure to use a saw blade meant for crosscutting rather than ripping. Now you and your mate will each have a shortboard to join those other windsurfers on the water. The centerboard will now be the fin on one of your new short boards. Don't bother with a mast track on the other short board, just drill a hole through the board and bolt that mast foot down!

Here's a parking tip if the beach parking is limited. Take along a cutting torch. When you find a parking spot that is too short, stop the car beside the spot, get out the torch, and just cut off enough of the car so it fits in the parking spot. Right behind the radiator is a good spot; avoid going through engine block since this will take a long time to cut through.

Alternatively, if you want to try some road motorcycling, just cut your mate's car in half lengthwise. You both can go and it is less expensive than buying two Harleys.
