VANCOUVER ISLAND WINDTALK

Here in Vancouver, stupidly didn't bring my kiting gear, nice 12m wind this evening on Spanish Banks.

Interesting scene, a little different than the Island spots. Seemed like more beginner types, sketchy launches. Wind a little gusty.

A sign at the launch "no kiteboarding", but apparently no enforcement yet -- guy said normally Vic Day is the end of being able to launch off the beach.

Too bad, because looks like an excellent beginner spot ... launch sideshore, can get several km of downwind, all sandy beaches. A little more forgiving than Gordons rock show!

When the tide is out, Spanish Banks up closer to UBC can be awesome. NW wind on the beach can be gusty, but once off the beach it's usually steadier.

If only English Bay got wind like Victoria ...
