I think there are two outfits on Lake Arenal. The one that I went to for windsurfing also did kiting and offerred kite lessons. They had pretty solid windsurfing rental gear. The place was called Tico Wind http://www.ticowind.com/.

Look for the government warning sign about the "Crocodiles in the Lake" right beside the entry to the place.

I think that people are exploring some great wind spots in the north west corner of the country but travelling with the family, I was relegated to the more common spots.

May i suggest not booking the lessons online or to early .

You should go there and try and get the right conditions
before paying them.

Good tip AC. You could have too much wind or you could have too little. They definitely will not be too busy to fit you in with the amount of travel going on right now.

Why learn teabagging on nuclear gusty as hell inland Lake Arenal (crocs?? really?) when they have beauty sandy beaches with smooth water and gentle wind on the coast? Northwest coast looks amazing also for surfing 8)

don't know this one but there must be more....and it's in the right vicinity.

I agree with KUS, I was windsurfing down there over the holidays and wasn't really impressed. I found the wind to be real gusty, the wind is based on weather systems moving through not on thermals.
