I still wonder if one would bother you if you were in the water trying to water start. I can see that being less likely based on the fact that you wouldn't look as much like a sea lion. This guy was on the board and slogging, so you'd think from below it could look like a sea lion...that is what I going to go with to make myself feel better!

I don't like this one because you'd assume that his sail would have been in the water, thus making him not look like many sea lions that I have seen before.

According to http://www.sharkresearchcommittee.com/dist.htm you don't have to worry too much if the great white is smaller than 3m as that is when "adult White Sharks are apparently opportunistic predators and will readily take any prey species that is available" and you can also expect the odd "polaris attack"....now that one would be a great little surprise Maybe carrying a little kit to deal with the so-called "bite-and-spit" strategy wouldn't be a bad plan to get yourself into shore apparently it is very likely skinny humans would be rejected after a taste....another reason to lose some weight

And, as several people said before, a good reason to not sail with BWD! Great whites wash up dead on Haida Gwaii beaches fairly often, and are seen alive by fishermen WAY UP NORTH there from time to time; I don't see why they wouldn't be cruising up JdeF occasionally at least as far as Gordos.

I had a tough time getting past "The cock, wearing a razorsharp knife...".

DWD, The reference to roosters is Nanmoo's international signal for sharks (hand held with fingers together over head to mimic a shark-fin) looking much more like a rooster's comb (fingers splayed). This is very confusing on the Oregon coast. The thought of being attacked by a rooster in the Pistol River break just creeps me out.

Doc is correct, if you see me sail past sporting my hand on my head mimmicing a shark-fin - It means I have just spotted a shark and you best be heading to shore. If the fingers are seperated and wiggling the same holds true except that I have spotted a rooster. If only my middle finger is extended it means you likely just cut me off.
