Hey ... if you think it's a bad idea to allow offroad vehicles to rip it up in Harbourview park, you will be interested in this petition.

Harbourview park is in Sooke. It includes the series of hills that you see to the north when you drive along the Sooke basin.

If you live in Sooke and don't like the idea, give your Mayor a call too...

I'm all for parks development, JR etc. but is there another place where these people would rather see the off-road vehicles :?: as an alternative for those people who love that kinda thing.

I mean rather than red-taping and forbidding everything everywhere except letting your dog crap and not pick it up? This seems to be the final destination for every park these days....

I am not even familiar with the area, Mike, just curious. And I bet the neighbors just hate the noise and exhaust, etc. which is understandable. I just have no idea where I can ride my off road bike (or mtn bike for that matter excepting Hartland) these days with everything closed off or turned into golf courses or nature reserves with signs, gates and bylaws threatening fines......BC's kinda like Germany now   I especially get off on the parks where people are not allowed into anymore, like Mt Tolmie in my backyard, 99% rock and perfect for Mtn biking, where ur not permitted to leave the (now gravel-paved :!:) trail lest u step on a wildflower, $75 fine if you're caught on a bike.

There sure seems to be a dialogue brewing with both sides on

I'm not sure whose side I'm on with that one....fossil fuel burning, tire abrading arguments aside

Off-road vehicles are fine so long as they are used to transport wind toys

Every one plays or everyone pays. I would not sign anything that stops a person from enjoying their sport. We've seen what happens when beaches get banned.

I recall hikers blaming the MT. bikers ( me ) for ruining their hiking trails. where do we draw the line? hard to define.

The loggers are worst than the bikes who run over a few bushes.
and they also need a place to ride. There are not many left "
