"The French winner of the Nobel Prize for physics is a windsurfing former rugby player ..." (Bobson!! He's one of you! :D :D )

A former rugby player and now an avid sailboarder, Dr. Fert told France's Inter Radio that he planned to share some of the spoils of his winnings with colleagues.

”As usual when I get prizes, I share a little with my associates and then I will see,” he said. ”I don't know. I think I need new sails for my windsurfers.”

Thats great! He shares $1.5 million; thats $750,000, average of maybe 500 bucks a sail, he can buy a quiver of 1,500 new sails at full price! I wonder if by "associates" he was referring to other windsurfers, not physicists?

There were 3 winners so I guess he only gets $500,000. Still, not bad. I'm impressed hat he is windsurfing at 69.

"Two European scientists won the 2007 Nobel Prize in physics ..." where'd you get the third Mike? (there were three that shared for medicine.....)

Sounds like the windsurfer should have got all of it, the other guy who independently came up with the idea got a patent - if he gets a little bit of every computer and iPod, that must add up to a tidy sum! The French guy was probably thinking about the next storm track too much to bother with the business!

You're right MF4. Got it mixed up with the Medicine Nobel. He's back to $750,000.
