It's a combination of windy, theweathernetwork, countless hours looking at tree tops and telling my wife a thousand times it's blowing in the wrong direction, surface temp map and the wind predictions below the bwd cam for harbor quay. For the HQ cam during thermal season 10kn inflow is usually more like 20kn, and the rare 17kn prediction is an atomic blast. If you're up for a drive, Ole at the zenlifestyles.ca foil ranch tells me he's on a 3m lift 110ha every day, and even outflow in Port is 5m-sinker up there.

No point in Sproat this time of the year, it's only good in the spring. Just go to canal.

Give the YR app a try for local forecasts. The phone app allows you to get wind speed forecasts in knots, while the website seems to only give m/s.
