I added a link to my website with current conditions for cowichan lake. its basic but will give you a pretty good idea if its blowing here or down the road at Nitinat. Im up on the hill in Youbou looking down so usually there will be a shot of the lake. Should have a web cam up soon.

Hey Cliff:
Nice work, thanks, that will be useful. How are you getting the current conditions - is it from your hourly observations of the lake?

Looking forward to seeing the webcam, let me know if I can be of any help,
dave

Only problem is that it is Nanaimo airport, or is the forcast actually for Youbou?

Weather obs

I work out of home in the summer, so its a simple 90 degree head rotation to window for current Wx Obs.
Their all from the lake no remote.
Having issues getting my cam to upload though. will keep at it.
Trivia....ubow got its name from some guy yount and something.bou who started the mill back in the day. Hence Youbou....very original!!

Sorry, I was on the wrong link(weather network) rather than current conditions.

Good stuff.

so, if he was in a bar they'd yell: "hey you", which I guess had a varying degree of success getting his attention? :D  again, this gets better all the time

Too bad theres trees in way or I could get the launch area with the cam.
Thought someone might frown upon leveling all trees in the path....wait timberwest might do it for me...ya

oh do share...the only good one I have found is the Nixon site or just west of little shaw creek or in the playground/swimming area in Youbou. I also wanna launch a catamaran up there sometime, any thoughts?

Looks like I will be up sometime Saturday for the week. Kus :P

OK it works, looks dull at this time but its raining like hell right now too!

We will have to meet in an alley somewhere to discuss the launch. launching a cat is out as its about a 10 minute walk or accessed by boat. I usually head down on my bike. Usually quite a funny site, but I am using kite gear so it works fine.
Might not work so good for cats or windsurfers.

enjoy

hey bwd any tips on how to make the image better? I guess a better camera would, but besides that? Seems like any low cloud and the image washes out from too much light.
I am south facing so might have some issues with that I guess.
